Abstract (EN)
Water, which has been considered one of the most basic sources since ancient times, is in places such as agriculture, industry as well as human needs. The amount of water consumed depending on usage is one of the main indicators of economic development. In recent years, industrial use of phenol and its derivatives has caused serious environmental pollution. Phenolic compounds are very toxic and harmful for human health. Wastewater containing phenol must be treated in accordance with the relevant legislation before discharge to the receiving environment. Many physical, chemical and biological treatment methods are used to remove phenol from wastewater. Within the scope of this thesis study, removal of phenol under UV system was investigated by using Cu-Ti-PILC and optimum conditions for each parameter affecting phenol removal efficiency; pH = 5, H2O2 = 5 ml, phenol concentration = 500 ppm, amount of Cu-Ti-PILC = 0,5 gram, amount of Cu = 4,25 grams. In the experimental studies conducted in these optimum conditions at the optimum phenol concentration, after the 45 minutes, 98.2% phenol removal efficiency was obtained. At the same time, in experimental studies, it was observed that by-products were formed during the removal of phenol from the environment depending on the time and the removal of these by-products was also evaluated within the scope of the study.
