Abstract (EN)
In this study, works of Jubran Khalil Jubran one of the representatives of modern Arabic literature in the west and William Blake who was an important poet of English literature, were examined . The works used as main sources in this study are Jubran Arâʾisü'l-mürûc (Nymphs of the Valley), el- Ervâhu'l-mütemerride (Spirits Rebellious), el-Ecnihatü'l-mütekessire (The Broken Wings), Demʿa ve İbtisâme (A Tear And A Smile), el-Mevâkib (The Processions), el-Avâsıf (The Storm), el-Bedâʾiʿ ve't- tarâʾif (Thoughts And Meditations), el-Mûsîka (On Music) and William Blake's The Songs of Innocence and Experience, The Prophetic Books. In this study consisting of an introduction and three parts, the first part mainly deals with information about Jubran's life, works and his personality as a literary figure. In the second part, information about William Blake's life, works and his personality as a literary figure is presented. In the last part, Jubran's work written in Arabic have been compared to those of Blake's based on the themes of nature, pessimism, revolt and rebellion, religion and finally freedom. The results of the study have suggested that Blake had an influence on Jubran negative attitude especially towards religion and the church. Furthermore, it has been obviously seen that Blake who is considered to be the leading founder of romanticism movement, also had an influence on Jubran's represantations and analogies of nature. However, when it comes to the themes of revolt and rebellion, it has been thought that although he was influenced by Blake, Jubran's tendencies he had in his nature were more dominent. It has been observed that rebellion and melancholy were heavily featured in Jubran's works due to this temperament. It has been determined that his attitudes towards freedom emerged for the same reasons due to pressures of the church and other authorities.
