Folk culture and folk li̇terature in Çukurova region's nomads

Abstract (EN)
Nomadic wandering is a long term life style based on livestock, identified with Turks and continued after the conquer of Anatolia. In the historical period, there formed a distinctive culture and literature in this type of life. Çukurova region was a geography where the nomadic life style was prolonged throughout the history, used as winterquarters more, and became settled life afterwards. So-called life style, despite not being applied for recently as much as in the past, has continued to exist in the region. This study mentions Yörüks and Türkmens who lived as Nomads in the past and still especially go on living like that. Our study consists of four sections. In introduction section forming the first section; the historical, geographical, educational and socio-cultural features of the region are mentioned after the knowledge about the research subject limit, aim, method and various terms and concepts related to the subject is given. In the second section; the subjects such as various ceremonies, folk beliefs, livestocking, kitchen cultures, folk arts, clothes, plays and entertainments of the Nomads in Çukurova region are included. In the third section; anonymous folk literature products, minstrel-poet literature verse products, fixed expressions are determined and observed via written and verbal sources. Our study ends with a conclusion, bibliography, photograph and dictionary. In this study, it is aimed to determine the Nomadic folk culture in Çukurova region that will completely come to an end in the very soon, to inform the change and transformation in the so-called culture, to register the folk literature products which Nomads formed and mention the Nomads and to asist such studies.
