The effect of different sowing densities on yield of caper in Çukurova ecological conditions

This study was conducted under the ecological conditions of Çukurova during 2005-2006. The objective of this study was to assess effect of harvest dates and row spacing on the yield. The experiment was arranged using split plot design with harvest dates as main plots and row spacing as sub plots with three replications. Harvest dates include 17 May to 04 August. It has been done fifteen times. Row spacing involved 1x1 m, 1x2 m it was recommended that caper buds must be collected once a week at the beginning and at the end of the harvesting season and twice a week during the season. As a result of this study; plant height (56.30-98.33) cm, number of branches (4.21-6.47) unit/plant, flower buds height (0.6-1.01) cm, flower buds diameter (0.69- 0.80) cm, flower buds yield (4.50-1.95) g/plant, thousand seed weight (1x1 m) 8.66 g, seed yield (1x1 m) 0.77 kg/da.
