Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to determine preharvest sprouting resistance and susceptibility in some high yielding commercial varieties and lines adapted under Çukurova Conditions. These are obtained from different origins and used 15 bread wheat and 1 0 durum wheat genotypes as a material in this research. As a result of this study, It is stressed that red grain coloured wheat genotypes are more tolerant to preharvest sprouting than white grain coloured wheat genotypes. In addition, early heading varieties are more susceptible to preharvest sprouting than late heading varieties. Besides, studies have indicated that falling number, as a determinator factor on alpha-amylase enzyme activity, may be used for preharvest sprouting resistance as a criterion. Key Words: Bread wheat, durum wheat, pre-harvest sprouting, dormancy, resistance, susceptibility, tolerance. 11
