Seasonal, morfogenetik and diurnal variabilities of chaste berry (Vitex agnus-castus L) grown under Çukurova contitions

Prof. Dr. Filiz AYANOĞLUThis study was carried out to determine seasonal, morfogenetik and diurnalvariabilities of essential oil contend and essential oil yield of Vitex agnus-castus L.,grown under Adana ecological conditions during September 2004-November 2004.Trials were condected at experimental area of Field Crops Depertment ofAgricultural Faculty of Çukurova Uviversity.In this study, leave were collected every Monday and three times within a day(at 08.00-12.00 and 16.00 o?clock) throughout eight weeks. The content and yield ofessential oil were analyzed in leave samples. As a result, essential oil content andessential oil yield of Vitex agnus-castus L. was changed according to seasons, partsof tha plant and hours of the day. The highest essential oil content (% 5.42) of Vitexagnus-castus L. was determined vac-7 population on three weeks, and morningharvests. Also, essential oil yield of Vitex agnus-castus L. was changed according toweeks, and the highest essential yield (20.07 l/da) obtained VAC-1 population onthree weeks, and morning harvest.Key Words: Vitex agnus-castus, Essential Oil Content and Yield, SeasonalVariability, Morfogenetik Variability, Diurnal Variability
