Abstract (EN)

Evaluation of Health Services Offered at the Medico-Social Center of Çukurova University Aim: The aim of this study was investigating the satisfaction levels of service recipients and providers in order to evaluate the health services offered at the Medico-Social Center of Çukurova University. Methods: The population of this cross-sectional study consisted of those who received service from the center (n=1399) between 01-30 April 2018 and those serving at the center (n=25). Simple random sampling method was used to reach the calculated sample size (n=302). Two of the employees did not participate in the study. The EUROPEP Scale was applied to service recipients while the sections titled "job satisfaction, motivation and commitment" in the survey conducted by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Health, Health Staff Satisfaction Research study was applying to service providers. Results: Of the 306 participants with a mean age of 25,5±10, 83,6 % were students and 71,2 % were women. 70,3 % of the participants had made more than two applications to the center in the last year. The patient satisfaction level was found to be higher than 4 out of 5 between all dimensions (Doctor-Patient Relationship, Health Service Presentation, Information and Support, Organization of Health Services, General Evaluation, EUROPEP Average) except for accessibility dimension (3.89). In the answers given to the question of improving the health services offered in the institution, opening a polyclinic in some branches, especially in dentistry, opening a pharmacy in the campus, developing laboratory facilities, reducing waiting times, promoting the services, better orientation of the patients, improving the physical conditions. 38.5 % of the participants stated that they do not know the family physicians they are registered in and 52.5 % of them stated that they would prefer this unit if a family medicine unit is opened in the university campus. The avarage age of service providers was 48±6,5 and the working time in the profession for 48 % of them was 26 years or above. All job satisfaction statements' except "We often meet outside of work for various social activities"; all motivation statements' except "My salary is in line with my expectations", "My remuneration is appropriate in comparison with other sectors", "The structure and equipment of the building is appropriate to the requirements of the work"; all loyalty statements' except "Health sector is the best in terms of personal rights in all public sectors" points were positive. Conclusion: Although the satisfaction levels of service providers and recipients are high, it is expected that attempts to address the dissatisfaction cases identified in this study will increase the quality of health care. Regular follow-up of the study is important to monitor the impact of interventions and to examine the historical data comparatively.
