Özet (EN)
Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the rates of recurrent hospitalizations of psychotic and non-psychotic patients who were treated as inpatients in the psychiatry clinic of Çukurova University Medical Faculty and to compare sociodemographic and clinical variables in terms of recurrent hospitalizations. Method: All patients who were hospitalized in the psychiatry clinic of Cukurova University Medical Faculty between July 1, 2013 and June 30, 2017 were included in the study retrospectively. The patients were divided into two groups as psychotic and non-psychotic. The groups were compared in terms of sociodemographic and clinical variables. Patients with and more than one hospitalization within 18 months of period are considered as recurrent hospitalisation and patients with a hospitalization of 3 or more were considered as a revolving door phenomenon. Cases with recurrent hospitalization and revolving door phenomenon were compared with others in terms of sociodemographic and clinical variables. Results: The mean age of the 903 patients included in the study was 40,02 ± 14,31 years. The majority of the patients were female (64,5%), married (57,3%), have children (59,8), received primary and higher education (91%), was unemployed (76,3%), and lived in the city (93%), lived with the family (95,7%). The most common diagnoses were 'Depression Disorders' (35,3%), 2nd frequency 'Schizophrenia and other disorders with psychosis' (18,2%), 3rd frequency 'Bipolar and related disorders' (17,8%). 38,7% of all patients were in the psychotic group and 61,4% were in the non-psychotic group. 24% of all patients had recurrent hospitalizations and 6.9% of patients had revolving door phenomena. It was seen that 36,4% of the patients with recurrent hospitalization were in the psychotic group and 63,6% were in the non-psychotic group. It was seen that 22,7% of psychotic patients and 24,8% of non-psychotic patients had recurrent hospitalization. There was no significant difference between psychotic and non-psychotic patients in terms of number of hospitalizations. Conclusion: There are many factors that are effective in recurrent hospitalization. The presence of psychotic symptoms is only one of these factors. There is a need for prospective follow-up studies that evaluate all of these factors and assess the presence of psychosis with scales and have a large number of patients. Keywords: revolving door phenomenon, psychotic, recurrent hospitalization
