Abstract (EN)

Tuberculosis control programmes maintained succesfully until the first half of 20. Century had become argumentative due to increase of cases of drug resistant tuberculosis throughout the world. Furthermore this situation inspired the development of new control programmes with more sensitive epidomiologic monitoring of strains. In this context, treatment of cases with suitable treatment protocols in addition to monitoring and identification of isolates with multi or increased drug resistant strains is of vital importance.In this study, minor resistant of 14 RIF+INH and 19 non(RIF+INH) major drug resistant strains isolated from sputum samples of 24,457 patients sent to regional tuberculosis labaratory within 2 years has been determined. To this end, sensitivities of Proportional Sensitivity method (PPD), MGIT-960 sensitivity test, measurement of nitroreductase activity test and fast result producing nitroreductase proportion method (NRPPD) has been compared.As a result, 1(7%) of RIF+INF resistant strains has found to develope resistant to at least 3 of minor antibiotics with all of methods studied. Furthermore, it is concluded that prevelance of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis in our region is above the average of country and it is threatening towards a situation of increasing extended drug resistant cases of tuberculosis.Key words: INH, MGIT, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, RIF
