Blind ashiks in the Repuplic period in Anatolia – a naratif analysis

Ashik style folk literature, which is the continuation of the Kam, baksı poet tradition and known to have completed its formation in the 16th century, constitutes the third dimension of Turkish folk literature studies together with anonymous folk literature and religious mystical folk literature. In almost every region of the Turkish cultural geography, many types, known for their instrument skills and improvisational poetry abilities, have emerged with the characteristics of the ashik character. So much so that although today's technological developments have transformed the creation and performance contexts of folk literature products, these types continue to be visible in new contexts and cultural environments. The ashiks, who are an important component of the folk literature studies in the Anatolian field, continued to grow after the Republican period and became the representatives of the tradition. In terms of artistic creation, it is seen that there are representatives who adapt to the tradition of minstrelsy among disabled individuals. In other words, there is no negative aspect in the ashik tradition of physically disabled people other than hearing impairment. As a matter of fact, as the axis in study, 48 visually impaired ashiks were identified in the ashik tradition of the Anatolian field of the Republican period. The environment, which was tried to be taken into custody for the first time in Turkish folk literature researches, the visually impaired ashiks who reached Anatolian lands after the Republican period, lived in years and places; their gender; reasons for losing sight; educational status; their professional careers; saying master-apprentice; The issues that the minstrels deal with in their publications and products about themselves and their works are discussed by examining the methods of taking pseudonyms.
