Abstract (EN)
When the Turkish Republic was founded national identity was built around Turkish nationalism and the principle of "Towards the People". In this context, folk literature and folk literature products came to the fore in the field of literature, and the state that wanted to use literature as a propaganda tool, implemented the "project of modernizing folk books". Epics were given special importance within the products of folk literature. Because epics contain a large amount of national elements. In this context, artists tended to rewrite the old Turkish epics and epics were used in Turkish Language and Literature teaching. Basri Gocul, the subject of our research and a poet with a Turkist-Kemalist identity, wrote Oghuzlama with the ideal of creating the Turkish national epic. Until now, no comprehensive study has been put forward on the teaching of epics, the intellectual, political and historical background of the emphasis on epics, the epic poet Basri Gocul and on his most important work, Oguzlama. This is the starting point of our research. Oguzlama is a completely verse version of Dede Korkut Stories that has a mixed verse-prose form. Oguzlama is a work that is worth examining in terms of language and style features, harmony and form features, epic qualities, national and social values it contains and should be used in epic teaching.
