Abstract (EN)

Terror has always been at the top of Turkey's agenda from past to present time. Events of terror caused damages in several areas and even today stands as one of the major problems waiting for solutions. Although the problem is very serious, when we examine the sources written on this subject, we come across with the fact that there has not been sufficient enough scientific researches considering historical, cultural, economic and social aspects of the issue. Even more, despite the fact that Turkey has always dealt with intensive teror events, there has not been any academic studies that embrace the issue with integrated approach. This study aims to give a general overview of terror events Turkey had witnessed from the proclamation of the republic up to present time. The history of the country was divided into several phases and terror events of that period were evaluated due to the specific characteristics of those phases. Hence, there are considerable differences of terror events beginning with the proclamation of republic to present time considering how they occur, their dimensions and effects. Today, not only the reasons that terror is derived have become different, but methods of the centers that produce terror, their targets and tools have also changed. When we look at historical line and current dimensions, it is understood that Turkey needs long time to solve her terror problems. Thus, having information on the historical dimensions of the issue with an integrated approach would contribute to the future plans.
