Abstract (EN)

The aim of the literary criticism is to determine the successful and the aesthetic, to prepare the atmosphere of art necessary for the artist to create artistic work, revealing the positive and negative aspects of an artistic work.Criticism which is a concept entered into our letters from Western literature has been considered a separate category since the Ottoman Reform Period started in 1839. The increase in the number of critics during the Republican period, the rise of academic critics, works in relation to the theory of criticism has furnished the development of criticism both qualitatively and quantitatively. The fact that the critics have specialized in criticism of literary categories has positively affected this development. In the writings of the period between the years 1960-1980, criticism was accepted as a literary category and the necessity of evaluation of an artistic work according to literary measures was expressed. The discussions of existence/nonexistence of criticism and critics, that had taken place before 1960 continued within this period as well.Within the period, the point our novel as a literary category had reached and the qualities of our novelists were discussed. Novel criticisms were made in the form of evaluation of more than one work of a novelist as well as on solely one novel. Critical reviews written on novels taking as their subjects the country side, the urban, and the psychological conflicts of the individual within the urban constitute the majority. Concerning especially the criticism of the country side novel, the subjective and ideological perspectives of the critics were influential. In the writings about the country side novel, different viewpoints were laid down and the discussion of the country side-novel versus the novel of the urban was carried out. The political atmosphere of the period has also affected the novel criticisms, and the novels depicting the 12th March period in particular were pointed out.The period between the years 1960-1980 is a period within which our country has changed rapidly both politically and economically and culturally. In this thesis, the criticisms on the category of novel, which appeared on all of the cultural, artistic and literary magazines of that period, were classified and analyzed and the novels were evaluated according to their thematic characteristics. In the study, not only a state determination made; but criticism was analyzed with its characteristics as a literary category and the common and similar features, successful aspects and sometimes failures of the critical reviews were attempted to be laid down with their justification.Keywords:1-Literary2-Criticism3-Critic4-Novel5-Novelist
