Abstract (EN)

Salafiyah is a religious movement that accepts the primary rules of Islam and adopts the rules and expressions in the Book and Sunnah without any interpretation. This group has followed the path of the Messenger of Allah and his companions in the light of hadiths. The origin of this group which is called Ahl al-Sunnah wa'l-Jama'ah commenced with the tabi'in in the second century of the Hijra. The Ahl al-Sunnah thought consists of four major schools of jurisprudence. Hanbaliyyah is one of these schools of jurisprudence founded by Ahmet b. Hanbel. The Salafis saw themselves as the continuation of the Hanbali sect and adopted the views of Ahmad b. Hanbal. The Salafi thought was systematized by Ibn Taymiyyah in the 12th century of the Hijra. Salafism has spread throughout history through different periods and has currently become the official sect of Saudi Arabia. The Salafi belief has an aspiration to return to the previous days of Islam. This religious movement has changed over time, evolving from a harsh stance to a modern understanding. Salafi thought appeared initially during the Ottoman Empire in Turkish history. The Wahhabism movement, which is the branch of Salafism, was encountered within the Ottoman lands. In the Republican Period, it was encountered with societies and associations founded by Salafi groups and publications and journals that published translations of the works of important Salafi figures. The Salafi belief system has been supported in Türkiye over the years and has been represented by different people, communities, and media until today. This study includes the Salafi movements that have continued their existence in Türkiye since the late Ottoman period and the beginning of the Republican period until today.
