The development of the olympic Turkish equestrian in the period of republic

This study has been done for revealing of the development of the Olympic Turkish Equestrian from the period of athletic equestrian training started in the Period of Republic to the present day. Scanning model has been used for the research. For this purpose, issues related to archives and libraries of public institutions and universities had been scanned. As a result;Horse of using within the framework of international rules by the Turks was in the Republican Period. Equestrian training had a break due to the wars. High-level equestrian riding education teacher could not be found for a long time so the development of the horse-riding was affected negatively. After 1960s, the news has spread related that horse plague disease were seen in Turkey. For this reason it couldn?t have participated in any international competition for a long time and failed to organize in our country. War economy and inadequacies of Turkish horse production in our country all in one were dependence on abroad about qualified horse. Closing of the Cavalry Group in 1978 which had served as a riding school at the same time had shaken to the foundations of equestrian training in the scientific sense. Turkish Olympic Equestrian, from the period of joined in 1931 the first international equestrian competition until 1960, had continued success in the international arena. From that date until today, there isn?t any success in Europe and around the World except to the Balkan Championships. Nowadays, one of the fundamental steps of the development and becoming more widespread of the equestrian sport in our country is established that National Equestrian School and Training Center of Turkish Equestrian Federation which will be operated properly to the universal rules of equestrian sports and plan a conscious and quality riding training. Besides, the obtaining autonomous structure of the Equestrian Federation and the interest of sponsors to equestrian sports as western countries are evaluated that plays an important role in the development of this sport. As a result of this study, it can be said that Turkish Olympic Equestrian could not keep up with this development while Olympic equestrian sport in the World shows a rapid development even create their own sector.Key words: Republic, Equestrian, Development
