Comparison of the constitutional language in terms of Turkish usage from the Republic to the present

This study aims to analyze the language employed in constitutional texts with regard to the use of Turkish. This study adopts a qualitative research methodology and utilizes document analysis. It examines the constitutions that were enacted following the proclamation of the Republic, including one that remains in force today. It was aimed to determine how much these Constitutional texts, which came into force in 1921, 1924, 1961 and 1982, overlap with the Turkish language in terms of the language they use. It is hoped that the laws, which are an inevitable part of life and society, will serve as a source for a new Constitutional study that can be created in the future by aiming to determine the ongoing change in daily use. In addition, the Constitution is defined as a document that ensures the control of state institutions against all kinds of violations, thus establishing individual rights and freedoms and ensuring their inviolability. The language of law in constitutional texts has in some periods included more foreign words, while in other periods this ratio has decreased. At the same time, an answer was sought to the question of whether the language of law should be at a level that the public can understand or not. As a result of the research, the change in the legal language used in constitutional texts in terms of word types from day to day has been exhibited. Conclusion, In order to replace foreign words in constitutional texts, it is important to simplify the language and find Turkish equivalents that the public can understand. However, it should not be forgotten that since some terms have universal meaning, these terms should also be used appropriately. In order to achieve this balance, linguists and lawyers can cooperate to ensure that the language of the constitution maintains its legal meaning and is understandable to the public.
