Junayd al-Baghdādī's views on perfection of human

Despite the increasing number of studies on the early period of Ṣūfism, there are almost no studies on the views of Junayd al-Baghdādī (d. 297/909), one of the founding names of Ṣūfism. Therefore, it was aimed to examine Junayd al-Baghdadi's views on the nature and perfection of human being in this study. The main questions that the research aims to answer are how Junayd al-Baghdādī's human imagination and understanding of sainthood (walāya). For this reason, in the first chapter, according to Junayd al-Baghdādī, it has been addressed what human is in terms of its nature, reason for being and perfection that it can reach. In the second part, his opinions about passing-away (fanā), abiding in God (baḳā) and sobriety (sahv) are explained. In the third part, the features of the Saint as a person who has reached perfection and Junayd al-Baghdādī's understanding of sainthood through the relationship between prophethood-sainthood are discussed. As a result, it was determined that Junayd al-Baghdādī had devoleped idea of sainthood, presented a human conceiving that allowed to construct the idea of sainthood and the teaching of sobriety, which was identified with him in the history of Ṣūfism, developed as a necessary result of his understanding of his idea of sainthood.
