Özet (EN)

In recent years, hollow steel, built-up box or concrete filled column-beam connections have drawn increasing praise due to the rapid development of assembled steel structures. However, built-up box steel columns have the detrimental tendency of developing a plastic hinge at the column panel zone due to stress concentration. Limited researches have paid attention to the analytical behaviour of these types of joints. This work propose three novel connections configuration; first connection is hollow steel column to beam (IPE section), second is concrete filled column to beam (IPE section), and third is Built-up box steel column-beam (IPE section) connection. In this work a numerical study was performed by using advanced Finıte element based software (ABAQUS). Finite element analytical modeling of the joint was performed considering complex contact interactions and material models. The modeling techniques used in this work, including the mesh and element types, the material properties, and the contact elements, were validated by comparing the numerical results of proposed connection models with the relevant experimental study. Good agreement between the test and analytical results was observed in terms of the failure modes and the hysteretic or monotonic behaviour. The failure mode of all proposed connectıons and moment-rotation curves were discussed based on numerical results.
