D. Popper Op: 73 number etude book's contribution to performance of the violoncello musical works

The purpose of this study is to determine the contributions of D. Popper Op:73 number etude book to the performances of the Violoncello Musical Works aiming the education in medium and advance levels at University Music Departments of the Faculty of Education Fine Arts Departments.In this research; a descriptive situation is taken as a model and the whole data are processed by collecting and taking inquiry. Descriptive and statical methods are used in analyses and explanation.In the study, in the lights of the literature reviewed, it was clearly seen that D. Popper Op:73 number methods has an important place in the education of the violoncello.The environment of this study is based on the educational terms of 2008-2009 Universities? in Turkey such as Atatürk University, Gazi Osman Pasa University, Gazi University, 19 Mayıs University, Pamukkale University, Selcuk University, Uludag University, International Cyprus University, Karadeniz Teknik University, Mehmet Akif Ersoy University and Van Yuzuncu Yıl University Education Faculties Fine Arts Departments Music Education Branches, and the thirteen (13)teachers who act as Violoncello teachers in these branches.In the result of data searched through the sources; D. Popper Op:73 numbered violoncello method is found highly useful to contribute to the technical knowledge and development of ability. It is clearly understood that it was preferred by all teachers of violoncello who were part of this research, as the most contributive work to serve the technical, rhytmic and musical effects found on the other musical works within the cello reperatory.As a result, it is suggested that the mentioned work of D. Popper might be used more widely in the medium and upper levels as serving and preparing the students for the difficulties of musical forces faced within the violoncello literature.
