Abstract (EN)

INTRODUCTION: Preeclampsia, a complication of pregnancy whose pathogenesis is still not fully clarified, is among the diseases with high maternal/fetal morbidity and mortality in developed countries. In the literature, studies showing that vitamin D deficiency is more common in pregnant women and vitamin D deficiency is evaluated in pregnant women with preeclampsia, and there are conflicting results. Considering these contradictions, we aimed to evaluate the level of Vitamin D and angiopoietic factors in pregnant women complicated with preeclampsia. MATERIAL AND METHOD: 31 pregnant women diagnosed with preeclampsia and 32 healthy pregnant women who applied to Sakarya University Training and Research Hospital (SEAH) Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic were included in the study. Fasting blood samples taken from individuals in the patient and control groups were centrifuged and divided into serum and plasma. Serum 25 (OH) Vitamin D level was measured by Chemiluminescence (CLIA) method, TNF-α and PIGF level were measured by Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay (ELISA) method and PCT level was measured by Electrochemiluminescence (ECLIA) method. RESULT: In the preeclamptic pregnant group, 25 (OH) Vitamin D and PIGF levels were lower (p <0.001) and TNF-α and PCT levels were higher than the control group (p <0.001), (p <0.05). Significance level was accepted as p <0.05. A statistically significant positive correlation was found between TNF-α level and AST, ALT values (p = 0.001). Significance level was accepted as p <0.05. In addition, a significant positive correlation was found between PCT level and PLT number (p = 0,000). CONCLUSION: The results of our study show that serum 25 (OH) Vitamin D levels are low in preeclamptic pregnant women. Keywords: Preeclampsia, Vitamin D, Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha, Placental Growth Factor, Procalcitonin.
