Abstract (EN)
Cittaslow International Livable Cities Network is preferred by cities which do not want to lose their culture, nature and traditions, and Calm Cities provide sustainable local development in a more livable, traditional environment and ensure the transfer of cities to future generations. In this study, Daday, a district of Kastamonu, has been examined in terms of Cittaslow Membership Criteria and it has been determined what should be done for membership process. In the study, sustainable development and also calm city relationship, calm city and Slow Food philosophy practices in the world and Turkey have been mentioned. Within the scope of the study, SWOT analysis was applied to 17 cities which were previously declared as Slow City and similarities were determined between these cities and the comparison was made with Daday district which is the subject of the study. Interview technique, observation and literature review were used as data collection tools. Interviews were conducted with local managers and touristic business owners in Daday District. In line with the information obtained from the interviews, observations and literature, evaluations were made about Daday for becoming a member of Slow City. In the study, the data were analyzed by descriptive analysis method and the information was quoted directly. As a result of the examination, it was found that Daday only met 25 of the Slow City Criteria. This rate is not sufficient to become a Slow City Member. The study also suggested what to do in terms of Daday for membership process and criteria for local administrators, local businesses, local people, and recommendations for future researchers.
