Abstract (EN)

INTRODUCTION AND AIM: In our study, it was aimed to determine the parameters that may be associated with mortality by making a retrospective analysis of the patients who were followed up and treated in the intensive care unit in the internal medicine clinic. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The data of 230 patients who were hospitalized in SAUEAH internal medicine ICU between 2020-2021 were investigated retrospectively. Data; hospital automation system, patient epicrisis, archive files, ministry of health e-pulse information system. Hospitalization diagnoses, laboratory parameters at the time of hospitalization, prognostic scoring systems at the time of hospitalization, comorbid diseases, and complications developed during the follow-up of patients who were discharged from the intensive care unit and died were compared. RESULTS: In our study, it was determined that 37.3% (n=86) of 230 patients died in the intensive care unit. In patients with high mortality in the univariate model, age, platelet, lymphocyte, albumin, crp, ferritin, creatinine, procalcitonin, urea, lactate, apache, saps and sofa scores, gks, sepsis, KB, HBV, malignancy, dyspnea, intubation, Significant (p<0.05) results were observed in the parameters of inotrope, growth in culture, aby in follow-up, need for urgent rrt, and length of hospital stay. CONCLUSION: In our study, the parameters of the patients who were followed up and died in the intensive care clinic and those who were discharged were compared, and as a result, findings were found that were in agreement with the literature. It was determined that the demographic characteristics of the patients, hospitalization diagnoses, comorbid diseases and some laboratory values gave significant results in predicting mortality. There is a need for more comprehensive studies to reduce mortality in intensive care units and to increase the quality standards of intensive care units. Keywords: Intensive care and mortality, scoring methods
