Data analysis for municipal treatment plants in izmir city

Izmir City has a dynamic population with a growth rate of 2.28 % according to the census in 2000 (Turkiye ?statistik Kurumu [TÜ?K], 2005). By the increase of population, new municipal waste water treatment plants are been required. Therefore first of all Izmir Municipal Waste Water Treatment Plant (IMWWTP) was constructed and then Guneybatı Waste Water Treatment Plant (GWWTP) and Foca Waste Water Treatment Plant (FWWTP) were constructed to meet the increased requirements. Planning of IMWWTP project goes back to 1969. Project had been revised several times and finally process had been changed in accordance with the feasibility report in 1996, and construction has been completed and started to operate in 2002. GWWTP is the second plant constructed as a part of Great Channel Project. After a construction period of eight months the plant started work on 2003. Wastewater from Guzelbahce Town and wastewater from military unit located in Narlıdere region is collected and transferred to this plant. Foca Waste Water Treatment Plant (FWWTP) and Marine Discharge Plant had been designed by Iller Bank as a part of Sewage Collection System of Foca. The required financial support had been provided by foreign credit (from Spanish Goverment). It had been constructed by Pridesa-Cevtas Consortium and started to operate in 2004. In this thesis, influent and effluent process data of GWWTP, IMWWTP and FWWTP were analysed and compared by using statistical analysis techniques in order to evaluate effect of pollution loads on each other and the performance of wastewater treatment plants. Samples are collected as composite. In this thesis just experimental data obtained from composite samples were used. At the first hand, raw data had been analized and graphed to find frequencies, distribution, homogeneities, descriptive analysis values, regression and corelation by using a statistical software, SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences).
