Determination of energy potential for Datca Wind Power plant extension area

Abstract (EN)

In recent years, with the increasing interest in renewable energy sources in Turkey, the installed power in wind energy has exceeded 13000 MW. Investments in the North Aegean, South Marmara and East Mediterranean regions, where wind potential is particularly high, are increasing day by day. In this study, it is planned to increase the 21 MW power in Datça wind power plant to over 33 MW by adding 3 more wind turbines in total. For this purpose, the data obtained using wind measurement mast (80 m high) placed in one locations were used to derive a time series required to calculate the most realistic production capacity with the combination of MCP methodologies, and here the model was adjusted with the production values of the 5 turbines currently available throughout the entire operating period of the wind power plant. The new turbine locations were selected according to the maximum production capacity and wind classes for the tested turbine models, and extreme wind conditions were verified with the Spectral Correction method. Final production estimates for 5 different turbine types, existing turbines that are not affected by the new turbines and turbine models tested for the new three turbines are obtained with the latest modeling tools WAsP 11 and WindPro 4.1 and are presented in detail in graphs and tables.
