Abstract (EN)
Within the context of David Easton?s Political Systems Theory, the present study entitled ?Political Communication and Political Participation in Turkey: A Study On Erzurum Elector?, intends to analyse the opinion, Turkish electorate (of Erzurum elector in particular), the factors affecting the voting behaviour and political participation factors which they often implement in order to provide input to the political system.The present study in which the political communication and political participation behaviour of Erzurum electorate is examined is comprised of three parts; two of which is theoretic and one is a field study.In part one, the notion of politics, political culture, standards of political culture and the notion of political systems, distinctive features of political systems theory and structural functionalist theory are analysed within the context of David Easton?s political systems theory. In part two, political communication and political participation in political systems are examined. The final part of our study consists of methodology and field study.The fields study was conducted in Erzurum between 15-29 April 2009 face-to-face based on random sampling on 578 electors.And according to the results of the field study, the voting behaviour of Erzurum electorate depends on the party, the image of the candidate, the media, the ideologies and interests of the party and that in order to provide input for political system, they participate in political system within the framework of political activists, political interests, political campaign activities, political membership and sole voting factors.
