Mental accounting in behavioral economics: A research in İstanbul

In this study, it was revealed whether mental accounting in behavioral economics shows emotional bias in individuals' spending decisions. Mental accounting shows that individuals do not act rationally while making these decisions. In the face of savings and expenditures, the individual makes calculations in his mind and decides according to these calculations. The psychological state of the individuals, how the losses and gains are obtained affect the individual emotionally. These psychological effects cause the individual to classify money, categorize it, and spend it according to these classes. Emotional biases drive the individual away from rationality.
