Özet (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to reveal whether the effects of oral vitamin C supplements on tissue vitamin C levels vary according to age and gender. Young (2-3 months), adult (12-18 months) and elderly (18 months and over); A total of 84 rats were used, with 7 animals in each group, male and female. The rats were given orally by gastric gavage for 30 days with vitamin C 500mg/kg CA in the supplement groups and physiological water in the control groups for 30 days. Heart, liver and kidney tissue samples were taken from rats under anesthesia after 12 hours of fasting for analysis. After the tissues were hydrogenated, centrifugation was applied. Vitamin C values were obtained by applying ELISA to tissue homogenates. In statistical analysis, using SPSS package program, independent t-test was applied for the difference between two independent groups in the comparison of quantitative data in the data with normal distribution, and one-way analysis of variance was applied in the comparison of more than two independent groups. Vitamin C supplementation was found to increase renal tissue vitamin C levels in adult rats, increase heart tissue vitamin C levels and decrease renal tissue vitamin C levels in the elderly. In the study, it was observed that gender had no effect on vitamin C levels in heart and kidney tissue, excluding liver. It was determined that age had a significant effect on vitamin C levels in the tissues examined in the study, and the highest vitamin C level was in the tissues of aged rats. As a result, it can be said that while oral vitamin C supplementation in rats and gender did not affect vitamin C levels in heart, liver and kidney tissues, age affected vitamin C levels of these tissues.
