Abstract (EN)

The increasingly restricted emission norms and renewed approaches to energy efficiency have led to new studies on alternative fuels and combustion strategies for internal combustion engines. The use of hydrogen and natural gas as alternative fuels in engines is considered as a fuel mixture that can be preferred in improving engine performance and exhaust gas emissions. In the use of alternative gas fuels in diesel engines, it is preferable to run it according to the dual-fuel system with the pilot diesel injection method, which is also used in this study, instead of modifications that are both costly and result in working on the diesel principle again. The aim of this project is to examine in detail the effects of hydroxy gas-compressed natural gas fuel mixtures on performance and emissions in a pilot diesel-injected diesel engine with no structural changes. By examining the effects of HHO-CNG fuel mixtures with 25% volumetric ratios, HHOCNG differences were plotted comparatively. As a working parameter, the HHOCNG mixture was tested with biodiesel fuels as a preliminary study and added to the results section. In addition, micro-cost analysis has been made and explained. As a result, in this study, the usability of HHO-CNG fuel mixtures was tested with the pilot diesel injection method in a diesel engine without structural changes and the results showed that these fuel mixtures can be used to increase engine performance and reduce exhaust emissions.
