The impact of the awareness training program for dementia-friendly society on local government employees

The main purpose of this study is to measure the effectiveness of the Education Program for Dementia Awareness (DFEP) formed within the scope of the project "Towards Age Friendly Cities: Creating Age Friendly Environments and Services in a Rapidly Aging Society" (Arun, 2019). Within the scope of the study, secondary data analysis was carried out by using the data obtained from the application of DFEP formed within the scope of the project "Towards Age Friendly Cities: Creating Age Friendly Environments and Services in an Aging Society". Within the scope of secondary data analysis; the effectiveness of DFEP was assessed in relation to gender and working branches by applying it to Social Aid Affairs, Municipal Police and the Parks and Gardens Department in the Muratpaşa Municipality. As a result of the analyzes performed, it was observed that each module constituting DFEP made a difference in the level of knowledge and awareness of the participants. When the literature is examined, it is seen that the education programs developed for dementia awareness are mainly medical care. In this respect, it is thought that the DFEP developed from the social sciences perspective will contribute to the field as it includes subjects such as social care, social and economic protection, protection of personal autonomy, age-friendly environment and dementia-friendly society.
