Abstract (EN)

Negative impacts of dementia on human phsiology and psychic abilities make that person's nutrition depending on the social environment. In this research, it is aimed to find out how the losses of dementia patients in cognitive functions as a result of the problems related to the situation affect the daily basic life activity of nutrition. It is analysed; how nutritional situation of dementia patients is related to the conditions created by the illness, attitudes of those family members Who are responsible for the care effect the nutrition of senior dementia patients. In the research, questionnaire was used as a quantitative research method. The research was conducted on 100 patients who applied to the dementia clinic and who were recorded as dementia patient according to the examinations made at the clinic according to the DSM-IV diagnosis criteria and who were applied to the clinic with care provider. By considering the difficulty of getting information from dementia patient, required information was collected from "care providing family members". A nutritional model was proposed drawing on the findings of the empirical research and within the scoop of the thesis contributing to the solution of the nutrition problem.
