The effect of iron powder added concrete and stirrup design on the structural behavior of the console beams

Abstract (EN)
Industrial wastes are causing non-negligible problems today. In this study, the behavior of the reinforced concrete cantilever beam under bending due to the non-recyclability of the waste iron dust generated in the factories was analysed by making changes in the hook angle and pitch distance of the stirrup. Within the scope of the thesis, which was carried out experimentally, the research has aimed to test the behavior of simple bending when using iron powder additives in reinforced concrete cantilever beams on sub-balance and above-balance reinforcement. In the study, it was also be aimed to create different types by changing the stirrup hook angle and stirrup step distance. Also, the total of 48 reinforced concrete cantilever beams were produced and tested. According to the information above, 48 samples are composed of 24 pure reference samples and 24 samples containing 20% iron powder. The diameter of the reinforcement in the longitudinal reinforcement of the specimens with and without additives was changed, and half of them were designed to be under-equilibrium reinforced and the other half to be overbalanced. Regarding stirrups, 3 types of step distance were chosen as 50 mm, 100 mm and 150 mm, and 2 types of hook angles were used at 90 degrees and 135 degrees for stirrup hook angles. In all reinforced concrete cantilever beam specimens, 150 * 200 mm has been chosen as the cross-section dimension and 400 mm in length. In accordance to the results obtained from The study; if the stirrup step distance is 50 mm, compared to the stirrup step distance of 150 mm in all samples, approximately 10% more ductile behavior was observed in terms of ductility and an increase of 10 % was observed in the maximum load amount carried. When the stirrup hook angle is 135 degrees, 5% more ductile behavior was observed in terms of ductility compared to 90 degrees, and an increase of around 4% was observed in the maximum amount of load carried. Additionally, in all samples the sub-equilibrium reinforced behave 14% more ductile than samples with above equilibrium reinforcement, and a 13% decrease in the maximum load amount transported was observed. When the effect of the iron powder additive was examined, it was observed that all samples showed an average ductile behavior of about 15% and a decrease of about 14% in the maximum amount of load carried.
