The relationship between democracy and budget deficit: An empirical analysis on Turkey for 1980-2020

Since the 1980s, the continuous and permanent budget deficits in many developed industrial countries caused serious problems on the world economy, causing the issue of financing budget deficits to be handled by academic and political circles. In this context, it can be easily stated that budget deficits are among the problems of both developed and developing countries economies. The economy is shaped by the policies of the leaders and controls the budget. People elected by democracy can change the fate of the country, as well as cause a budget deficit with their policies. The aim of this research is to work on the Relationship Between Democracy and Budget Deficit in Turkey between 1980 and 2020 and to make an assessment with the information obtained.
