Tokat in Democratic Party Peri̇od (1950-1960)

In this thesis, the policies of the Democrat Party government in power between 1950 and 1960 and their effects in Tokat province were discussed. During the study, the information obtained from relevant national and local newspapers published in the period and the archive documents of Prime Ministry Republican Archives were reviewed. In addition, copyrighted and examinational works related to the subject were used. Our study consists of introduction, four chapters and a conclusion part. The process of returning to Multi-Party Life between the years of 1946-1950 in Turkey has been discussed in introduction part of the study. Information was given about the political parties established in this period. In the first Chapter, information about the organization of Turkish Political Party in Tokat city, their activities in the elections, results of the election and the administrators who served in Tokat between the years of 1946 and 1960 were given. In Chapter II, the administrative structure in Tokat, the status of districts, population, migration, health, communication situation and social events such as sports were mentioned. In Chapter III of our thesis, educational activities of the Democrat Party in Tokat in line with the National Education Policies, the press in Tokat and cultural activities in Tokat were mentioned. In Chapter IV which is the last Chapter, reflections of the economic developments in the DP period in Tokat and agriculture, animal husbandry, public works, transportation and mining issues regarding the policies implemented by the governments were discussed.
