Investigation of the effects of probation practices on the restorative justice system

Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to observe the effectiveness of probation practices in relation to restorative justice and to analyze approachs and needs through the experience of practitioners. The phenomenal analysis technique was used and depth interviews were prefered with eight obliged and three experts. In this way, it was aimed to discover how the participants make sense of the process through their experiences and how the probation is perceived from the perspective of restorative justice. The opinions of both groups were interpreted together to reach this aim. As a result of the interviews, it was observed that there is no probation policy that will contribute to restorative justice in practice, that there is no effort to make sense of the process regarding the adequacy of the repair part and the necessity of the measures and that sufficient studies have not yet been carried out for the functioning of probation.
