Determining dynamic response of the traditional himiş mansion using finite element model updated with experimental modal analysis method

Hımış structures, which have met the housing needs of human beings for years, are now considered as historical structures. Considering that our country is located on active faultlines, it is extremely important to determine the structural behavior under dynamic effects and to take necessary precautions in order to safely transfer these structures from today to the future. The aim of this thesis is to determine the dynamic response of a traditional Hımış mansion under dynamic forces in Fındıklı district of Rize province. for this purpose, first of all, the dynamic characteristics (mode shapes, natural frequencies and damping ratios) of the current situation of the building were obtained by using the experimental modal analysis method. After that, the finite element model of the mansion was created, and numerical dynamic characteristics were obtained as a result of modal analysis. Experimental and numerically obtained dynamic characteristics were compared, the differences that occurred were updated taking into account uncertain parameters, and the finite element model was updated. Then, the dynamic response of the updated model was determined by time-history analysis method using the 1999 Kocaeli earthquake records. As a result of the analysis, maximum displacement, principal stress and strain values were obtained and the dynamic response of the traditional Hımış mansion was evaluated.
