Investigation of the effects of afyonkarahisar region hot springs water on blood calcium and some hormon levels in experimentally-created osteoporosis in rats

Abstract (EN)
Osteoporosis, characterized by low bone density and bone structure deterioration, is a skeletal system disease that results in increased brittleness in the bones and fractures in various bones. In this research project, a total of 25 Albino female rats were constructed, 10 of which were control groups. After the required asepsis and antisepsis were provided, abdominal cavities were open under anesthesia by intraperitoneally given ketamine (200 mg/kg) and xylazine (10 mg/kg) in all the animals. Then, the abdominal cavity was closed by stitching and the wound tissue was batikon touched. After taking the ovaries in all of the rats, a total of 25 rats, comprising 10 control and 15 study groups, were taken into the 21-day treatment period. Control group rats were given tap water twice a day by orogastric probe in a dose of 1 L /33 kg body weight at the same time every day. In addition, normal tap water was added to the drinkers of this group, and it was ensured that they reach the refreshed water and food ad libitum daily. All the rats in the control group were bathed with tap water at 35 ± 2 ° C for 15 minutes, and then placed in their cages. Totally 15 ovarectomized rats in the study group were given fresh Süreyya I hot spring water twice a day by orogastric probe in a dose of 1 L /33 kg body weight. Moreover, Süreyya I hot spring water, which was brought freshly, added to their drinkers. Additionally, the rats in the study group were bathed with hot spring water at 35 ± 2 ° C daily for 15 minutes, and then taken into their shelters. Clinical, hematological and blood biochemical parameters were measured in all animals before and after overectomy and on days 1, 7, 14 and 21 after treatment. In weighing on the 21st day after treatment, body weight average of control group rats was 291.1 whereas 283.2 g n study group, and statistically significant (p <0.05) difference was found in terms of body weight averages. Significant increases in heart and respiratory frequency averages were determined in the study group animals, and the difference was statistically significant (p <0.05). When the results of hematological findings were examined; it was observed that there was a more significant (p <0.05) decrease in the study group animals in terms of WBC, NOTR and MCV averages after treatment, whereas the highest levels of HG, RBC, HCT, LENF and MCHC were obtained in the study group animals on the 21st day. After treatment, the study group had statistically significant (p <0.05) high levels of ALB, TP, OSTR, CT, Ca and HDL, but AST, GGT, TG, LDL, TCHOL and GLU levels decreased, and the most significant (p <0.05 ) changes were determined in the study group rats. As a result; it has been demonstrated with scientific data that balneotherapeutic applications with Süreyya I hot spring water caused significant improvements in clinical, hematological and blood biochemical parameters in rats with osteoporosis.
