Özet (EN)

Piracy and armed robbery at sea are increasing threats in the maritime industry. This problem threatens the world's maritime trade directly and indirectly, and causes severe economic losses to a large number of maritime stakeholders. These economic losses include higher insurance premiums, shipping charges, operating costs and security costs in the waters where sea piracy is occurring. Events that are complex, such as sea piracy and armed robbery at sea, that threaten maritime security are creating serious repercussions not only in the economic arena but also in the legal, social and political arena. In the study, a spatial density analysis of piracy and sea robbery attacks on the sea, which took place in 2010-2015, was carried out. In this analysis, the kernel density analysis method, which is one of the spatial analysis tools of Geographic Information Systems, is used. As a result of the study, hot marine areas with intensive spreading tendency were detected. It is thought that the hot sea areas identified in the study will enable the sea pirates and the actors fighting the armed robbery at sea to fight more effectively. According to the results of the study, it has been suggested that the solution may be more effective if the sea areas where the attacks are spread, as well as the sea areas where the attacks are concentrated, are taken into consideration.
