Abstract (EN)
This study which is called the role of container transportation in maritime trade in the Turkey?s export and Izmir seaport case, is planned as three sections and is completed with these main sections.In the first section, maritime trade in the World and Turkey, foreign trade structure of Turkey and the kinds of transportation are mentioned.In the second section, detailed informations are given about containers such as their history, basic structure, types, the vessels using in the container transportation.In the third and the final section, informations are given concerning Izmir seaport, the current situation of the seaport is analysed. The handling values are compared in Izmir seaport with in the other seaports around Turkey
