Examination of some manuscripts in Denizli Akşitler Library in terms of their binding ornamentations

In this study named as "Examination of Some Manuscripts in Denizli Akşitler Library in Terms of Their Binding Ornamentations", it is aimed to categorize scripts in Denizli Akşitler Library by examining their binding ornamentations. This study is crucial, since the library is recently founded and there have not been any other studies about these manuscripts. Thus, in this study 27 qualified scripts are examined in terms of their binding ornamentations. In Denizli Akşitler Library, in total there are 352 manuscripts. In this study 27 of them are chosen. These manuscripts are from 15th to 18th century and generally about religious topics. In these pieces, tea-color and sizing paper are used, and they are mostly written in talik and nesih lines. Black ink and red (lal) ink are preferred in these pieces. Manuscripts do not have different qualifications in terms of paper ornamentations. However, in these manuscripts we chose as the subject of this study, different qualifications in terms of binding ornamentation are identified. The binding of manuscripts in Akşitler Library are made from leather, fabric and marbling. Black, brown and maroon leathers are widely used in these pieces. In thesis, identification tags, descriptions, photographs and drawings of these manuscripts are presented in detail.
