Palynological studies on some rare and endemic taxa distributed in Denizli

Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the aim was to describe the pollen morphologies of rare and endemic species [Colchicum figlalii (Varol) Parolly & Eren, Linum punctatum C. Presl. subsp. pycnophyllum (Boiss. & Heldr.) Gustavsson, Thlaspi leblebicii Gemici & Görk, Noccaea cariensis (Carlström) Parolly, Nordt & Aytac, and Echinops emiliae P. H. Davis] with a limited distribution within the boundaries of Denizli province. The pollen morphologies of these species were examined using light microscopy (LM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for detailed surface ornamentation analysis of pollen samples. For C. figlalii, the pollen shape was generally oblate occasionally peroblate with a polar axis length (P) of 27.31 ± 3.27 (22.04‒34.29) µm and an equatorial axis length (E) of 47.69 ± 3.88 (41.20‒55.50) µm. The pollen shape of L. punctatum subsp. pycnophyllum was mostly suboblate occasionally oblate-spheroidal with a polar axis length (P) of 51.85 ± 3.41 (47.40‒58.03) µm and an equatorial axis length (E) of 59.38 ± 4.32 (51.36‒67.03) µm. T. leblebicii exhibited anisopolar and bilaterally symmetrical pollen, with a polar axis length (P) of 16.10 ± 1.91 (13.64‒20.56) µm and an equatorial axis length (E) of 17.12 ± 0.83 (15.20‒18.63) µm. N. cariensis had an oblate-spheroidal occasionally prolate-spheroidal pollen shape, with a polar axis length (P) of 15.32 ± 0.84 (13.90‒17.21) µm and an equatorial axis length (E) of 16,30 ± 0,70 (15,16‒18,03) µm. The pollen shape of E. emiliae was determined to be oblate-spheroidal occasionally prolate-spheroidal, with polar axis length (P) of 59.54 ± 4.61 (50.04‒68.65) µm and equatorial axis length (E) of 58.60 ± 4.11 (48.04‒66.72) µm.
