Özet (EN)

As countries develop their technologies, the energy needs of their industries increase day by day. While the technological developments of countries are good news that the level of welfare will increase, energy shortages are considered bad news. Among the developing countries, Turkey is trying to meet the energy demand resulting from industrialization and increasing population from its limited resources. Our country should determine its energy policies based on inexhaustible energy resources, that is, renewable energy resources, rather than exhaustible (fossil) energy resources. We need to use our existing energy resources more efficiently in order not to be dependent on foreign sources of energy and for sustainable development. In hours or periods when the need for energy is not high, our existing energy resources should be utilized and energy should be stored. The stored energy should be used to meet energy demands during peak hours. In this study, hydroelectric power plants with seawater pumped storage, one of the energy storage methods, were investigated and a power plant with a Mediterranean sub-reservoir was designed in Hatay. The power plant, designed in the Samandaÿ district of Hatay province, has an upper reservoir with a volume of 4,000,000 m3 at an elevation of 265 m, a concrete-lined transmission line of 650 m in length and 5 m in diameter, 1 shaft, a tailwater tunnel of 150 m in length and 5 m in diameter, a power plant building at an elevation of 25 m, and It has 4 turbines. The installed power of the designed power plant is calculated as 326 MW and the annual net income is 16,705,440 dollars.
