Abstract (EN)
Augmentation procedures applied to the alveolar bone; includes procedures to increase the width or height of the alveolar crest resorbed with grafts and other biomaterials, and to repair defects in the alveolar bone. The resorptions that occur prevent the implants from being positioned in the appropriate and correct position. For this reason, techniques applied for alveolar ridge augmentation are the first condition for appropriate prosthetic rehabilitation. The aim of our study is to create a questionnaire that evaluates the frequency of use of the biomaterials preferred by the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Periodontology specialists who apply the augmentation procedures most frequently before or during implant placement. As a result of the statistical analyzes in our study, a 16-question questionnaire was prepared with 180 experts in total. According to the survey results, specialists mostly use xenograft and resorbed membrane in sinus lift procedures. They prefere in horizontal augmentation procedures, often combined graft materials and non-resorbable membranes; and also non-resorbable membranes with combined grafts in vertical augmentation. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons apply implants more frequently than periodontologists.Periodontology specialists also use platelet-rich fibrin as a barrier membrane more frequently. Periodontologists are also performing augmentation procedures more frequently.
