Abstract (EN)

After 1999 East-Marmara Earthquake, recent approach accepted in Cityof Adapazarı, was to built a new settlement area. Unfortunately,although 5 years have passed after ?99 earthquake; new settlementareas are still not full. Aim of the study is to find out the reasons of thissituation. Various analysis, inquiries and questionnaires have beenmade in new settlement areas. Relations between old city and newregion have been examined, reasons were determined for the question;` Why do people still prefer old city?? with help of detailed studiesprepared on old city center & new region. As Turkey has earthquakerisk on %96 of its land; for the new settlements to be constructed afterearthquakes, Adapazarı will be taken as an example in order todetermine what facts to focus on planning and implementing studies.Science Code :Key Words : Earthquake, New Settlement Areas, AdapazarıPage Number : 169Adviser : Asist.
