Özet (EN)

In this thesis, a 22-site GNSS network was established in order to determine the velocity fields, strain rates, geodetic earthquake recurrence periods and potential earthquake magnitudes of the Banaz and Elvanpaşa Segments and its surroundings within the Aksehir-Simav Fault System. In addition to the existing GNSS data, 2 more campaign GNSS measurement were carried out in 2019 and 2020. GAMIT/GLOBK software was used for evaluation of GNSS data. As a result of the evaluation, the velocities of the sites were calculated between 20-26 mm/yr by taking the Eurasia plate fixed. The strain rates of the region were computed using the velocities. When the strain area is examined, NE-SW trending extensions and NW-SE trending compressions were observed in the south of the Banaz segment while compression components are generally dominant in the north. When the Elvanpaşa Segment is examined, dominance of NW-SE trending extension in the sout, while NW-SE trending and NE-SW trending compressions in the east was observed. Geodetic earthquake recurrence periods of the region were calculated for M>5, M>5.5 and M>6 by using strain rates. According to the results, the periods was calculated 20-50 years for M> 5, 70-170 years for M> 5.5 and over 200 years for Mw>6. The moment magnitude of the earthquake that may occur with the emergence of all the energy accumulated in the Banaz Segment and the Elvanpaşa Segment was calculated. The magnitudes are M: 5.3-5.8 and M: 5.3-5.7, Banaz and Elvanpasa Segments respectively.
