The relationship of social and emotional loneliness of adults with depressive symptoms to the sense of social belonging

Abstract (EN)

In the study, it was aimed to examine the social and emotional loneliness of adults with depression symptoms by associating them with a sense of social belonging. At the same time, it was examined whether social and emotional loneliness and the level of social belonging differed according to the various demographic information of the participants. A total of 426 people, including 235 volunteer adult women aged 18-55 and 181 adult men, selected Dec the appropriate sampling method, make up the sample of the study. In the data collection process of the study, Personal Information Form, Social and Emotional Loneliness Scale, Beck Depression Scale and General Belonging Scale were used. As a result of the research, it was found that the level of social loneliness and exclusion of men is higher than that of women. It has been found that the level of emotional loneliness in romantic relationships is lower in people who live with friends than in people who live with a partner or partner. It was found that the level of emotional loneliness in social loneliness and romantic relationships was higher in participants who grew up in a fragmented family. It has been found that the level of emotional loneliness in family relationships is higher in people with a mental disorder. It has been found that the level of emotional loneliness and exclusion in family relationships is higher in people with a history of self-harm. It was found that the level of acceptance was higher in people living with their family than in people living with friends. It was found that the level of exclusion and acceptance did not differ according to the type of family in which he grew up and his history of mental illness. It has been found that the level of exclusion is positive and the level of acceptance is negative, which predicts the level of depression. It has been found that exclusion level and social and emotional loneliness predict depression in a positive way. Exclusion has a positive effect; acceptance predicts social loneliness scores in a negative way. Exclusion has a positive effect; acceptance predicts emotional loneliness (family) scores in a negative way. Acceptance predicts emotional loneliness (romantic relationships) scores in a negative way.
