To intend to determine the correlation between, dependent variables via Beck Depression Inventory scores and independent variables via 16 PF Personality Inventory were used. To generate this study, 114 outpatient literate individulas between 18 and 65 year-old, physically fit and taking no psychopharmalogical treatment who were diagnosed with major depression excluding Psychotic Disorders and Depressive Episode of Bipolar Disorder in terms of DSM-5 by psychiatry specialists of Bağcılar Training and Research Hospital were included in a voluntarily base after being refered to study and 60 other outpatient individuals of an independent health facility covering the same requirements but without a major depression diagnosis who accepted to be a participant were also included and were randomly performed both Beck Depression Inventory and 16 PF Personality Inventory. Comparison of the results of Beck Depression Inventory showed that the participants with the diagnosis of major depression had higher average scores than the the participants without a major depression diagnosis. In terms of variables compatible of normal distribution or not, there has been a statistically significant correlation between the independent variables and participants with high Beck Depression Inventory scores. As a result of Factor Analysing reviewing the results that certain personality traits which are highlighted, it is observed that 15 of the personality traits out of 16 PF Personality Inventory forming four subsets inbetween and these independent variables can be defined in certain identification as the personality traits causing major depression. The regression model evaluating this situation is seen to state the relationship between the personality traits and major depression. It is come to the conclusion that personality traits which are specified and groupped in four subsets are seen to be confirmed via prejudice processing and this processing is the determining factor in phsycopatological formation of depression.
