Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this study was to examine the level of intolerance of uncertainty and parental attitudes in adults predicting cognitive emotion regulation strategies. The ages of the participants were between 25-52 years. The sample group consisted of 100 women, 65 women (65%) and 35 men (35%). Cognitive Emotion Regulation Strategies Scale, Abbreviated Perceived Parental Attitude Scale and Uncertainty Intolerance Scale were used in the study. In addition, participants completed the Informed Volunteer Consent Form and Demographic Information Form. For the data obtained, Independent Sample T-Test "," Correlation Analysis "and" Hierarchical Regression Analysis "were used. When the results of the study are examined; While perceived parental attitudes were higher in female participants than men, rejection maternal and paternal attitudes and overprotection maternal and paternal attitudes were higher in female participants. When looking at correlation analyses, it was determined that they differed according to variables. According to regression analysis results, rejection maternal attitude, emotional closeness paternal attitude and anticipatory anxiety were found to positively predict the cognitive emotion regulation strategy of focusing on thought. The concept of intolerance to uncertainty and the concept of parental attitudes are thought to be an important factor in regulating Cognitive Emotion Regulation Strategies and interventions directed to this factor in treatment interventions may contribute to the development of more adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies.
