Efficacy of problem solving training in treatment of depression

Abstract (EN)
According to the outcome of efficacy study , problem-solving therapy is pointed to be an effective way of deppression treatment. Basically , in this study , it has been surveyed whether problem-solving therapy's practice of short and group-formatted psychoeducation is effective for reducing the symptoms of deppression or not. 24 patients with a diognosis of deppression in accordance with SCID-I , have been performed problem-solving training 4 groups for 4 weeks . Through Beck Depression Inventory, Beck Anxiety Inventory and Social Problem-Solving Inventory- Revised, 4 evaluations which are acceptance score , pretraining score, post-training and follow-up score have been taken from patients. Findings indicate that patients' depression and anxiety levels evaluated during the post-training and follow-up process are considerably lower compared to acceptance and pre-training ones. Besides, patients' problem-solving skills evaluated during the post-training and follow-up process have been found significantly increased compared to acceptance score. In conclusion, problem-solving training can be regarded as an effective way of deppression treatment Keywords: problem-solving therapy, problem-solving training, depression, anxiety, problem-solving skills
