Abstract (EN)

Mentioning the taboos, which can be defined as "prohibitions" formed by the society, is prohibited. Signifiers formed by the narrations by way of euphemism of the words prohibited to be narrated due to taboos and causing negative perceptions both from the point of view of speakers and from the standpoint of listeners when narrated are referred to as euphemism. The present study aims at studying the euphemisms included in the Compilation Dictionary based on the dualities of Ferdinand de Saussure, founder of the structural linguistics in 20th century. The present study deals with taboos and classifications related to them and also with the effects of taboos on the language due to the fact that euphemisms find ground for their use on the basis of taboos.At the outset, information has been provided with regard to the application method of the thesis which will enable us to ground the study on a reliable basis prior to goning on to study. The concept of euphemism due to taboos and the euphemism varieties indicating diversities in terms of their aims of usage are dealt with. The headings mentioned below have been treated of within the framework of the present thesis. The headings at issue are as follows; the reason why of the existence of the euphemism data obtained from the Compilation Dictionary and their varieties, the existence of the euphemisms as signifiers, thereason why of their structural existences and non-existences, the variations of the euphemisms, variations of the euphemisms, varieties of synchronic and non-synchronic euphemisms, paradigmas of euphemisms made up at sentagma, the usage of the (langue) and (parole) euphemisms, the differences encountered in oral speech and written documents. The euphemism data had in the consequence of the study have been classified in semantics and then all classification has been given depend its geographic zones with its statistic data.
