Abstract (EN)
The present study defines and explains Gilles Deleuze's "the movement-image" and "the time-image" concepts, and to decide whether his films could be classified as a time-image movie, his selective films Waiting For Heaven (2006), Dot (2008), Shadows and Faces (2011), Cycle (2012) and Fish (2014) have been analyzed. For the analysis of the films, the scenes with the time-image characteristics are evaluated with respect to cinematic features such as time perception, narrating manner, characters, frame, sound-image elements and use of space. We widely see the use of fixed shot and pure optical and sound situations in all of the five films. These films are stories that do not depend on cause and effect chains. It is remarkable that time forks as defined by Deleuze, arise in the films when the character remembers the past at a specific time or the audience realize the image which makes a connection with the past. It is also notable that Zaim's films aim to relate the audience to other films by means of sometimes similar themes, sometimes characters and sometimes objects. The analysis of his above mentioned films yielded the conclusion that Dervis Zaim's films have the characteristics of the time-image movies.
